Where do my files go?
Nowhere. The resizing happens inside this browser tab and your images are never sent over the network. Close the tab and they are gone.
How does the crop work?
You pick a ratio and we take the largest rectangle of that shape from the middle of the picture. It is the right tool for social formats — a square for a grid, 4:5 for a portrait post. If you need to choose exactly which part to keep, use an editor; we would rather do one predictable thing well than a fiddly one badly.
Will it enlarge a small image?
No. If you ask for a width bigger than the picture has, you get the picture at its own size and we say so. Inventing pixels only makes it blurry while the number on screen goes up, which reads like an improvement and isn't.
Does the output size shown match the file?
Yes — exactly. The screen and the worker call the same function to work it out, so the two cannot drift apart.
Which format comes out?
The one you put in, unless you change it. HEIC is the exception: browsers can read it but not write it, so those come out as JPG.
